ABOUT US

Excellence in early childhood education and care since 1965

Johnson County Montessori's approach to education is based on self-directed activities, hands-on learning and collaborative play. In our school, children make creative choices in their learning, while the classroom and our highly trained teachers offer age-appropriate activities to guide the process. We promote socialization, respect and solidarity among the children. Our carefully prepared environment offers the child opportunities to commit to interesting and freely chosen work, which brings out long periods of concentration that is uninterrupted. Freedom develops within clear limits, which  allows children to live in harmony with others in the small society they belong to in the classroom.

OUR TEACHERS
Picture
One of the secrets for success in any educational setting is caring, committed teachers, and Johnson County Montessori Preschool has some of the best! Many of our teachers have decades of experience, including some who have been teaching at our school for many years. This is quite an accomplishment in a field where high turnover is common. All of our teachers are Montessori-certified or are pursuing their Montessori credentials.
WHAT IS MONTESSORI?
Picture
The Montessori system of education is named for Dr. Maria Montessori, who was both a physician and pioneer in early childhood development and education. Dr. Montessori developed her philosophy and methods in the early 1900s in Italy, and her approach has been proven effective for millions of children throughout the world for more than 100 years.
